Touchscreen laminated impact-resistant and vandal-proof

Laminated glass reinforced touch panel

The use of laminated glass is always recommended when a touchscreen with special impact resistance is required.

Annealed substrate glass or lamination

The process used is either annealed substrate glass or the lamination of other glasses. By using a single-annealed substrate glass (3 mm), a breaking strength of approx. 1.5 joules can already be achieved.

A laminate of 3 mm chemically tempered glass on the back of the touchscreen, on the other hand, increases the resistance force to approx. 5 joules. This corresponds to the case of a 500 g steel ball from a height of 100 cm.

Particularly resistant laminated glass

For systems with special impact resistance requirements, it is not only crucial that the outermost layer resists a certain application of force, but also that they do not splinter or otherwise create sharp-edged pieces.

Risk of injury is avoided

Splinters or sharp-edged pieces create an increased risk of injury to users, which must be avoided.

The equipment of a GFG glass film glass touch panel from Interelectronix with laminated glass is available in

  • 1.6 mm (C 16) or
  • 3 mm (C 30)

Resilience is increased

Strength possible, which significantly increases resistance.

Increased impact resistance due to lamination

As standard, we laminate three different glass thicknesses depending on the area of application

  • 1.6mm
  • 2.0mm
  • 3.0mm

For further reinforcement, it is possible to laminate two or, if necessary, several chemically hardened glasses in a row. This results in extremely robust touchscreens with exceptionally high impact resistance.

In the unlikely event of damage to the laminated glass, the type of glass and construction ensure that no free splinters are formed.

Of course, at the customer's request, we can also equip our projected capacitive touch screens with laminated glass and thus make them vandal-proof.

Special damping

Please note that the chemically tempered glass will be glued to the back of the touch screen. This glass does not increase scratch resistance. It improves purely the impact resistance.
In order to increase the impact resistance even further, the laminated glass Interelectronix installed with a special damping under the glass. This damping _federt the shocks ab_ and thus acts as a shock absorber. Because the more rigid the glass rests on the frame, the less it can withstand.

By means of ball drop tests, we prove the robustness and impact resistance of our products in the course of the development of customer-specific designs.
