ENCLOSURE ENGINEERING

Interelectronix is strong in metal package development, from design drafting to concept and detail construction. Following the objective of developing plug & play ready-to-use touch monitor systems and industrial PCs, we also accompany our clients in the development of housings that are optimized for the application and future environmental conditions.

This includes the research of suitable materials and manufacturing processes, the development of conceptual solution proposals, the evaluation of costs and process suitability as well as the construction in modern 3D CAD programs up to the creation of design drawings and finally the testing of functional models.

The objective of Interelectronix's product design is to develop a touch system that is optimally matched to each other in all details, functionalities and design and not only meets high quality standards according to technical criteria, but also according to aesthetic requirements.

In numerous projects supported by Interelectronix, it has been found that too little attention has been paid to the inner housing of a touch system. Economic criteria were primarily at the heart of the choice of materials and design.

On the one hand, however, inner housings have important functional tasks, but they also have an effect on the product and brand image through their appearance and technical implementation.

Functional properties

Suitable materials

The choice of housing materials is relevant for the service life, the failure rate and the appearance of an overall system. Interelectronix always determines the materials taking into account the specific application environment of a touch system and the expected loads

Connections & Interfaces

The correct integration of the connections into the housing as well as the appropriate position of connections and interfaces is an important criterion with regard to susceptibility to errors during operation, as well as the fast and safe installation and replacement of devices.

Ventilation

The functional ventilation of touch systems is often overlooked, but it is an enormously important technical requirement. On the one hand, this concerns a type of ventilation tailored to the touch system and, on the other hand, the position of the ventilation on the housing, taking into account the air exchange in the overall system.

Shoring

The device housing, e.g. of an industrial monitor, should be so perfectly designed that it fits optimally into the housing of the overall system and the anchorages as well as support and screw points must be suitably determined in order to be able to install and remove a device quickly and easily. At the same time, the device housing should fit perfectly with the system housing according to the specific application in order to reliably keep out environmental influences such as dust or moisture.

Water resistance

A special feature in the case development are waterproof housings. These pose a particular challenge. Depending on the IP protection class, different requirements are placed on the housing development and specific solutions and materials are used.

Material selection

It is not the cheapest material to choose, but the material that is most optimally suited for the application. Interelectronix has decades of material know-how and always proposes housing materials from the point of view of the specific application, the interaction with the overall system, an aesthetic appearance and the expected environmental influences. Consequently, the design and materials are selected specifically for the planned area of application.

3 D Construction

Appealing product design is not limited to external aesthetics. It is the result of a creative process that, in addition to technical functions and ergonomic handling, also takes into account the manufacturing costs and brand image of a product.

Exactly according to these criteria, Interelectronix creates special housings in small and medium-sized series, which create targeted effects and positive cost effects.

But what good is the most beautiful case design if you can't realize it? Unfortunately, very serious mistakes are very often made, especially when implementing an externally provided design draft. Interelectronix's particular strength lies in the fast and competent implementation of design constructions that can be used as a direct basis for rapid prototyping processes.

A particular challenge is the 3D design of sheet metal parts. The real challenge starts with the product design, as you usually have to make do with flat cuts and bending radii.

However, sheet metal housings for touch systems are rarely produced in large quantities, which has an impact on the design, as certain designs can only be implemented economically in large quantities. This must already be taken into account in the design draft.

Interelectronix realizes sophisticated design concepts! This is due to years of experience in the development and construction of plug & play touch systems.
