More and more car manufacturers are using touchscreens as multifunction displays
Touchscreen Technology News

More and more manufacturers in the automotive industry are implementing touchscreens as multifunction displays in their new car models. We recently reported on new technologies such as electronically generated, tactile perceptibility, as well as novel surface control for touchscreens for navigation and infotainment purposes in cars in our blog. In this article, we introduce you to three new car models, which are equipped with high-quality 12.3 inch and 17 inch TFT touch displays.

The Lamborghini Huracán with easy-to-read 12.3-inch TFT display

The 12.3-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1440 x 540 pixels in the new Lamborghini Huracán not only includes the navigation and infotainment system. It also displays all the information that is important for the driver (e.g. speed, current speed, etc.) and can also be freely configured in the display.

The Tesla S with a 17-inch screen in the center console

The Tesla S electric car has a capacitive 17-inch touchscreen screen integrated into the center console. The driver uses this to control not only the navigation and infotainment system, but also the steering wheel control. He also has access to the communication options (telephone and web) as well as all vehicle data and the control cabin (e.g. temperature control, seat heating, etc.). Further data on the Tesla S touchscreen display can be found on the manufacturer's website.

The new Audi TT Coupé with a 12.3-inch diagonal TFT display

The third member of the group is the Ingolstadt-based car manufacturer Audi. The latter has equipped its new TT Coupé with a 12.3-inch diagonal TFT display with a resolution of 1,440 x 540 pixels. In addition to a Google Maps map, which is used for navigation, the display shows all important information (e.g. all settings, the Audi connect service, media playback, speed display, rev counter and much more). Depending on the basic menu, the display changes its color design. In addition, elaborate detail effects ensure a perfected "state-of-the-art look".

Even though not everyone is yet comfortable with multimedia systems in cars due to safety concerns, we are confident that more and more car manufacturers will decide to implement touchscreen displays in the future.
