Now the Finnish company Canatu Oy has announced another innovation in this area in a press release, which could be of interest to automotive manufacturers.
Canatu Oy, in partnership with the companies Schuster Group and Display Solution AG, has produced a first, button-free prototype of a 3D-shaped multi-touch panel for the automotive industry.
5-finger multifunction touch display with IML technology
The Proto is an example of a 5-finger multifunction touch display with IML technology. According to Canatu, many car designers have long wanted to integrate touch applications as dashboards and other panels. However, the appropriate technology for this has not been available so far. Until now! Canatus CNB™ (Carbon NanoBud®) in-mold film, with its unique elongation property, represents a possible precursor to replacing mechanical control with 3D touch sensors.
Touch display for every conceivable surface
With a bending radius of 1 mm, CNB™ In-Mold Films can be used to attach touch controls to almost any conceivable surface. No other product currently on the market can be stretched or shaped up to 120% without losing its conductivity.
