The Internet of Things (IoT = Internet of Things) is about everyday objects being networked with the Internet and being able to communicate with each other without a human being. There are already frequent applications in this area. And the interface between man and machine is predominantly a touchscreen.
Since 2013, the EIU (Economist Intelligence Unit) has been conducting its survey results on this topic among more than 800 business users in a national report. There is also an up-to-date report for 2017.
The aim was to find out how the business world now feels about IoT. What opportunities and risks they see and what their plans are for the future.
Especially in the area of data management and analysis, 38% of the entrepreneurs surveyed see a great advantage in the introduction of IoT applications. This is followed by product and service (29%) and technological infrastructure (27%). Whether the employees will actually become more productive as a result is not yet foreseeable and is viewed rather critically by some participants. Nevertheless, many of the respondents see an advantage for their company in the longer term with the introduction of IoT applications.
