Fip Seals
Foaming - Fip Seals

Interelectronix offers you a selection of state-of-the-art touchscreen technologies and attaches great importance to the reliability and durability of its innovative products.

Sealing systems for touchscreens are at the heart of the development and production of high-quality and durable touch systems. FIPFG sealing systems are used, which seal particularly reliably and are resistant to environmental influences, dust, liquids and chemicals in the long term.

Interelectronix was one of the first companies to use FIPFG sealing systems in the production of touch panels and consistently perfected the technology.

Formed-in-place foam gaskets

In order to achieve the best tightness of the touchscreens and housings, Interelectronix offers different sealing systems - also corresponding to different IP classes and works with the modern FIPFG sealing technology.

The FIPFG sealing systems, also known as reaction sealing systems or freely applied sealing systems, are applied in-situ, i.e. directly at the location of the sealing seat.

FIPFG (formed in place foam gasket) sealing systems are applied via freely programmable robots. Here, the single or multi-component sealing materials are processed in a mixing and dosing system and foamed directly onto the component.

Complex laser cut-outs or punching processes are superfluous thanks to the innovative FIPFG process.

Both a 2-dimensional and a 3-dimensional application of the foam gasket on surfaces or in nuts is possible with the machine-controlled FIPFG technology. Within a very short time, the foam gaskets harden with UV light and the component is ready for assembly.

As it hardens, the gasket expands and a flexible gasket is created as a reliable barrier against foreign bodies penetrating. The fixed gasket simplifies assembly, reduces the number of loose parts and ensures improved tightness.

Only the perfect coordination of the application robot and the reaction process as well as a precise knowledge of the chemistry of the surfaces lead to a consistently high quality level of the sealing system.

Advantages of FIP foam gaskets

This innovative technology is extremely cost-saving, time-saving and achieves the best results due to the direct application to the component. Since the sealing material is foamed onto the surfaces or into the grooves while still in a soft state, the seals are optimally fitted.

Our production robots are able to apply the FIPFG seal in three dimensions.

The foam gasket adheres firmly to the applied area and once reacted, its surface is sticky. For the most part, we use two-component polyurethane (PUR) or silicone-based foam gaskets for this purpose.

Finally, by pressing it in, the optimally compressed assembly of the touchscreen is achieved. The result is highly elastic, dimensionally accurate and cost-effective seals.

Conventional methods such as laser cutting or punching, on the other hand, are not recommended for large batch sizes, as they are not only more complex, but also lead to waste – and thus to increased costs.

For small batch sizes, however, we can also offer you the stamping process as an alternative to FIP on request.

Custom foam gaskets

Interelectronix attaches great importance to meeting your specific requirements and therefore advises you in detail on the most suitable material for the FIPFG seal.

Depending on the required protection class, urethane, neoprene, PUR or silicone seals can be used.
