The controller can now measure this charge loss and determine the exact position proportional to the distance from the contact points of the corners of the touchscreen using the X and Y coordinates.

DISADVANTAGES of Surface Capacitive Touch Screen

Various disadvantages of surface capacitive technology prevent it from being widely used for various industries or applications.

The disadvantages are:

  • Operation is only possible with fingers or wired pens.
  • A surface capacitive touch screen is not vandal-proof.
  • Severe scratches may affect the function of the damaged area.
  • Gesture recognition is limited to one point only, multi-touch is not possible.
