There are 2 major factors that affect the durability of a regular resistive touch screen
The top surface of the ULTRA is a 0.1 mm thin micro glass. This glass is very durable against mechanical abrasion. A regular touch screen polyester wears out quickly in dusty or industrial environments especially in CNC workshops. The fine metal powder permanently rubs the polyester which gets milky and blind. The patented ULTRA touch screen technology is completely unaffected by mechanical abrasion.
The mechanism that causes the ITO coating to fail is related to the amount of flexing it undergoes, like bending fatigue. With the glass armour bonded to the polyester it is obviously stiffer - and flexes much less with each touch. So when we run the thumper test, we pass 235 million touches without a problem.
